About this role
You will be vital to the work of Ham and Petersham SOS, heloing our minibus drivers take our members to and from Sainsburys using our 9 seater minibus. You will be responsible for assisting the clients to board the bus safely and at time navigate the bus around the streets of Ham and Petersham before heading to Sainsburys in Kingston.
Your role may include:
- navigating around Han and Petersham
- assisting clients with their shopping
- assisting with packing clients shopping
- packing the shopping into the minibus
- taking the shopping into the clients home or to the front door
- assisting clients with their seatbelts
When and where
The third Tuesday of the month from 9:30am-12noon approx.
The shopping bus leaves the Ham and Petersham SOS office where it is parked and travels throughout Ham and Petersham picking up passengers before heading to Lidlwhere shoppers are given an hour before the minibus takes them and their groceries home. A The minibus is then returned to the SOS office and parked up.
Who we’re looking for
- People interested in helping keep older residents mobile and living independently.
- Physically fit and able to carry 2 or 3 bags of grocerys/shopping.
- Someone who has some local knowledge of Ham and Petersham or that can read a map.
If you would like to be able to see how your volunteering directly affects our members this is a great way to help us support the community.
Do you have 3-4 hours on a Tuesday morning?
We run a rota system where you can assign dates to volunteer to yourself so that you can plan your volunteering around your other commitments.
