With space for up to 8 shoppers we will pick you up from home, take you to the supermarket and allow you an hour to shop before helping you bring your bargains home
Ham and Petersham SOS is the local neighbourhood based charity for older and/or disabled residents of Ham and Petersham. We provide transport, weekly activities, monthly outings and practical help.
We find many of our members need practical support to help enable them living independently in their homes. Our team of dedicated volunteers provide a range of services, including:
This initiative offers our members a suite of opportunities to get out and about meeting others. Or, if a member prefers, one of our volunteers will regularly pop in to have a chat or take them out for coffee, letting them know there's someone there looking out for them

Enjoy a fish and chip lunch with friends at Ham library on the 4th Friday of the month. Pre-booking and payment in full of £8 is required prior to the lunch
A door to door service that picks people up from their homes and takes them to Sainsbury’s in Kingston. Volunteers are available to help carry the shopping to your front door.

We receive no money from the government or the NHS.
We have a grant from Richmond Parish Lands Charity towards core costs and we are part of the Community Independent Living Service for which we receive some funding. The rest of our funding comes from donations and fundraising events. We often try to raise funds for specific events and activities or apply for small one off grants.
No, however we suggest a small donation for attending a service, activity or event or having a volunteer take you too and from a hospital appointment. Further information is available upon request.
Yes, we ask that members pay an annual fee of £10 which gives them certain members benefits including a quarterly newsletter, access to our subsidised monthly outings program and free entry to Kew Gardens. More information on membership and benefits is available from the SOS office.
